OUT OF THE FIRE, RISE FROM THE ASHES
( REJECT YOUR DOUBT AND RELEASE THE PASSION )
LET'S GET ON IT, BELIEVE IF YOU WANT IT
Caden yawned, staring at the ceiling of his cabin. He hadn't just woken up; it was simply a habit of his. It was almost eleven o'clock at night, but he wasn't tired. Going quickly through his mental list of things he could do that would keep him awake, he decided to go down to the lake. He didn't plan on swimming this late at night; he just felt like going down there. He pulled on the pair of shorts that he wore whenever he decided to go to the lake and a white t-shirt. He didn't bother with removing any rings, necklaces, or bracelets he was wearing and slid his wallet and switchblade into his pocket.
He pulled on the shoes he'd been wearing all day and left the cabin, sticking to the shadows until he got to the lake. Caden didn't necessarily have something to hide, he would just prefer it not to be seen. When he was within twenty yards of the lake, he left the shadows and continued his walk to the edge of the water. He sat on the edge of the grass, since there wasn't much of a beach, staring across the water. This was his time of the day. Quiet, dark, with very rare interruptions. It was a lot like him, you could say. He wasn't exactly antisocial, he just felt awkward in social situations and preferred to keep to himself. His eyes rose to the sky. It was a full moon and the sky was littered with silver, glittery specks. You could see a lot of stars here at Camp Halfblood, certainly more than in the center of Birmingham. Despite the fact that it was night, it was still warm, somewhere in the eighties. He was tempted to take off his shirt, but he was self-conscious about the scar on his back, despite the fact that most people here had at least one and there was no one to see him out here.
Caden pulled a pair of glasses out of his shorts pocket. He usually wore his contacts at camp, but he'd already taken them out for today and didn't want to put them back in. His eyes weren't horrible, but bad enough that he needed glasses. He drummed the fingers of one hand on the grass as he stared across the water, occasionally brushing his bangs out of his eyes. He was finally starting to relax when he heard something behind him. Well, it sounded more like a couple of somethings. He jumped to his feet, simultaneously pulling out the switchblade. He spun to face the direction of the noise. He saw a silhouette and called quietly, but loud enough for the other person, "Who are you and what do you want?" Caden wasn't the shy guy everyone took him to be once he was threatened or surprised in a bad way.
