Time: Early morning, sun is rising Season: Early summer Weather: cool, and some clouds - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Gabe looked up at the slowly rising sun. It was a nice change to see the camp deserted, no running, sword fighting and no monsters. He sighed as he stood next to the doors of the stables. He scanned the area and didn't see anyone, he didn't really mind. All the campers were back in bed, the people who were sneaking out or smuggling objects. (he didn't have to say the hermes cabin, it went without saying) He leaned against the strong support beam of the stable and yawned. He covered his mouth as he yawned and with his free hand he stretched it high above his head. He was wearing his usual jeans, chucks and a graphic tee, this one was one of his favorites, it had a deer crossing on it, he loved simple things. He looked to the horizon where the sun was slowly poking it rays out onto the few clouds in the sky. The clouds themselves were tinted a pink orange color, it mesmerized Gabe. In his mind it was like the grey and the colour were fighting for control of the sky, but sadly, Gabe knew it was just Apollo just riding his chariot. Sometimes, knowing to much killed the magic and the fun.
Gabe turned on his heal and opened the stable doors, which creaked in response. The sunlight filtered in behind him and he saw his shadow on the staw that littered the floor. The smells of the Pegasi wafted towards his nose. It wasn't that it was a great smell, or even appealing, but it just smelt comforting. It had been a while since Gabe had rode on the Pegasi. He had been meaning to go on a Sunrise ride on a pegasi, but had been to tired. It seemed like the perfect time to go, having the sky change while you ride on it's wave lengths. He walked over to the stall he had cleaned out the day before. He met the eyes of the grey pegasi that he had taken a liking to. Gabe reached his hand out towards the creature and petted his snout. The pegasi nuzzled him almost like a cat. "I got a treat for you charcoal. I managed to sneak three sugar cubes for you during dinner yesterday, I forgot about them yesterday." Gabe whispered to the beautiful Charcoal. The pegasi instantly started to sniff Gabe looking for the sugar cubes. He smiled as he pulled them out of his jeans back pocket. He showed them o the pegasi and Charcoal's tongue instantly started to lick two of them. He laughed a little. He forgot how smart they were, Charcoal was just saving one for later. Gabe ran a hand through Charcoals main as his other hand was being licked clean.

Sunrise was a captivating thing. Even though he was well aware that it was Apollo's chariot being pulled into the sky that caused it first to turn pink, then orange, then eventually blue as the land was bathed in soft golden light, it was still mystifying. He sat in the low branches of a tree on the outskirts of the forest, where he'd spent some time practicing until a few minutes ago. He always woke up either much earlier, or a little bit later than the other campers in his cabin. The insomnia really screwed with his sleeping schedule sometimes. Last nights sleep had been oddly dreamless, and he'd awoken to black skies and the slight sounds of snoring. It was hard for him to get to sleep amongst all the noise and ruckus of his siblings, he liked peace and quiet when he was trying to doze off, and after about ten minutes of tossing and turning, he'd ventured out into the forest and decided to shoot his bow. Practicing was all that he really could do to kill boredom in the dark. Reading was only useful if you were allowed to have the lights on, and he didn't want to wake anyone up, they were extremely crabby when they first got up, most of them. Then again, it wasn't like he could really hold it against them, for he wasn't that much of a morning person himself. Josh heaved a long sigh and jumped down from the branch, landing lightly on his feet and adjusting his jeans.
His attire was even less neat than usual. Since he'd been roughing it out in the forest, he'd worn an older pair of jeans that had obviously seen better days. His shirt was a little ruffled, a gray in color, depicting the name of his favorite band. A studded belt was looped lazily around his waist, obviously a last minute addition to the attire, and the matching wristbands were objects he had forgotten to remove before crawling into bed the night before. And of course, the usual, worn black Converse he'd had for years were on his feet. Joshua gave a large yawn and ruffled the back of his dark hair, wondering what he should do, now that the sun had risen. Now that "sneaking out" was no longer the objective, he didn't really know what he was in the mood for. Slate-colored optics scanned the camp grounds curiously, a look of pondering assuming his expression.
They settled on the stables, and he gave a slight nod to himself, as if to confirm the decision on the surface. He rather liked the Pegasi, they were intelligent animals, even smarter than the other campers, in Joshua's opinion. Then again, as he hated most people, his opinion was a little biased. He assumed that he would be alone, given the fact that the sun was just making it's ascent into the heavens, but his gaze fell upon another boy who looked somewhere around his age. It took his eyes a moment to adjust to the light in the stables, but after a few seconds, he found he was able to recognize him. He gave him a slight nod, going over to one of the Pegasi whom he was most acquainted with and murmuring a quiet greeting, stroking the magnificent creatures soft neck.
Then he glanced back at the other boy. "Hello, Gabriel," he said, his tone not unfriendly. He had no quarrel with the other boy, they'd only met once or twice, and no real words had been exchanged. He wouldn't have known his name, had they not both been leaders of their cabins. "Were you planning to go riding?" he wondered curiously.

Gabe jumped as he heard the unfamiliar voice and he though he gave a small yelp, but wasn't completely sure. He turned slowly and sighed as he slouched in relaxation, not realizing he had tensed up after his little scare. Gabe reconized the boy as Josh, he only knew his name from campers who talked about him and that he was Dionysus cabin leader. Gabe had seen Josh around, but he couldn`t really recall ever speaking to him. What he did recall was that the female campers talked on and on about how they hooked up or started to go out. He also remembered how those same girls would be trash talking him wishing he was dead a few days later. He chuckled and wonder how he did it. Gabe had never had a girlfriends, he was to nervous to actually try and ask someone out. He sighed as he turned his attention back to Josh.
"Please, call me Gabe, Gabriel is to, well too... well I think itm is boring and an old person name." He finished, not really knowing how to explain his hate for his name. It made his sound older than he actually was. Gabe gave him a smile as he petted Charcoals snout without really thinking about it, it was just so natural. He slipped the sugar cube into his back pocket, mentally giving himself a note to give it to Charcoal after his ride. Gabe looked at Josh, not checking out, but just looking at the infamous JOSH. Sure, he had seen him, but it was just glances, Gabe wasn`t checking him out, he was just taking in what he looked like into his mind, it didn't help the stable was kinda dark. He chuckled a little as he looked at Josh. "Hi, You must be THE josh" He said accenting the THE part making him sound like a god. He smiled at him as he nodded his head in acknowledgment.
"I am thinking about it, but only if Charcoal will let me on her back today, she is getting old." He said and remembered that Charcoal was the first Pegasi he had ever ridden and the only one as well. He gave Charcoal a sideways glance as the Pegasi stomped it's hoof in glee, Gabe guessed the sugar rush would be kicking in soon, if not already happening. "How about you, going to take a ride?" He asked as he walked to the side of the pegasi and stroked his flank. He could feel the hair on the beast, it was combed neatly from yesterday so he wouldn't have to repeat the task.

Joshua's gray eyes flickered to the older Pegasi whom Gabriel was standing with, the corners of his lips tugging into one of those incredibly rare smiles that were actually genuine, and not the usual smirks or facades. He loved nature and animals, surprising for someone like him, but they had been substitutes for all the friends he'd never had in school, when he'd still thought he was mortal. He'd been the weird, creepy kid who sat at the back of the class and spoke to no one, pouring so insistently over a book that you might assume he was trying to get himself sucked inside of the fantasy world within. Really, he'd just been straining to make sense of the words in front of him. It had taken many years to get past the dyslexia, and he didn't miss it.
He nodded in understanding when the other boy requested to be called Gabe. "Fair enough, I can see why it would cause you discomfort." He had an odd manner of speaking with people sometimes, an almost formal sort of style to his words, mainly because he'd never gotten into the usual teenage cliques, he'd flourished better in solitude than he ever had in a crowd. That was more accepted here than in the mortal world, one of the many things that made him like the camp. He didn't yearn for acception, but it certainly didn't hurt to have people think you as normal.
Joshua chuckled softly. "The Josh?" he echoed. "Have people been talking about me behind my back?" His brows arched slightly, his tone chilling for a moment. He then shook his head, as he realized he was letting a bit of his temper problem get a grip on him. "Nothing against you, of course, the girls just like to chatter about me excessively." There was the period of obsession where they were convinced he liked them, and wouldn't listen to the voice of reason from their friends, and then there was the post-break up stage, where they bashed him using every profanity and insult listed both in the dictionary and out. He didn't like being the center of attention, but what he did love was the fact that he could still get girls, even after so many of them trash talked him. Kids in love are foolish indeed, he smirked internally. He was a bit of an arrogant asshole, but he didn't care what people thought of this, for the most part.
"At any rate, yes, I'm Joshua Dale, but I do prefer Josh, if you don't mind. Joshua reminds me of that prat from the bible. I've never cared for religion." He didn't like the fact that everyone assumed he was Christian or Catholic because of his name. He knew which religion was true, and that was Greek Mythology, but seeing as he couldn't go yammering about the existence of gods lest they stuff him in a nuthouse for safekeeping, he kept such things on the down-low and just vowed a hatred for stupid mortal religion. "Correct me if I am wrong, but you are the leader for Demeter's cabin, hmm?" He had to be sure Gabe hadn't been chucked unceremoniously from his position.
He nodded as he entered the stall of the Pegasi whom he'd stroked before. Whomever had taken care of it the day before hadn't done that great of a job, and so he gave it a quick brush before stroking it's neck again. "I planned to, yes. I haven't ridden in a while."

Gabe smiled at Josh. His legend seemed to follow him wherever he went. He guessed that he wasn't the only camper who had heard about THE JOSH. Actually he guessed everyone knew of his record due to the fact girls gossiped way to much to be healthy. He smiled at him and nodded his head, he found the boy intriguing. He walked out of the stall as Josh spoke to him, but paid attention to what he was saying, and where Gabe was going. Gabe stopped at a closet where they kept supplies. He opened it easily since there was no lock and pulled out a well worn fake leather saddle. He walked back and using his arm muscles carried it easily back to Charcoal. He left the closet door open just in case Josh needed a saddle. He had seen people go saddle-less, but Gabe wasn't that intense.
Gabe shot a look at Josh when he mentioned Cabin leader. He chuckled softly, not wanting to be rude, but also wanting to respond. He let him finish talking beore he opened his mouth to speak. "I sure am, Demeter Cabin Leader... And I believe you are the Dionysus Cabin leader." Gabe paused and wanted to hit his head. "And that is why you looked familiar." It was true, he was kind of familiar, but it made more sense now, he had seen him around maybe at meetings or at capture the flag. He smiled remembering the upcoming game. He took on another aspect of respect for Josh. He knew that it was harsh to be a cabin leader sometimes. He knew first hand, but on top of that to have maybe forty girls wanting to rip his throat out... Gabe couldn't compare to that one, but he could imagine. He swung the saddle so it was on Charcoal he gaze Gabe a look that showed the animals utter defeat. He bent to kneel on the ground and strapped up the soft fake leather straps to their prospective places. He loved doing this part, it made him feel clever, even though almost anyone could do it. "Exited for Capture the flag?" He asked, knowing that he would eventually ask for an alliance, but not yet. The Demeter cabin had a truce with the Ares campers... But if the Demeter, Ares, Dionysus campers all pooled together, it would be pretty kick ass. He continued to strap the saddle on the horse, plotting away in his head.

Joshua dipped his head slightly in agreement when Gabriel spoke, waiting for him to finish. "I certainly am, though it can be more of a pain in the ass than something to take pride in at times, my siblings are very... interesting, to say the least." He rolled his eyes. And by interesting, he was not being kind and pointing out that they were their own people, he was being irritable and thinking back to all the times they'd ever gotten on his nerves. "As for familiarity, I recognized you as well, if it counts for anything." After all, the cabin leaders all became loosely acquainted with one another eventually, it was inevitable. Though you didn't always meet the others on a more personal level, they were talked about, and since they handled the population of their cabins, used their authority for Capture the Flag, as well as a few other things.
He had not taken a saddle, he found them rather uncomfortable to say the least, and preferred to ride bare-back. The only real issue was with being able to hold on if things got out of control, but he was confident in himself. Perhaps a foolish thing to be, if you took into account what the world was coming to, but he was happy with his own mindset, and that was all that mattered. He murmured to the Pegasi which he had chosen under his breath, a sort of condolence, a reminder that he was a friend, not the enemy. "Perhaps I shall accompany you and Charcoal on this endeavor," Josh spoke aloud, deciding that he and his mount would fly alongside Gabe, so that they could continue their friendly conversation.
But it wasn't just his own social skills which were on his mind, no, he was already planning. And it seemed that Gabriel had the same idea, as he questioned Josh's feelings about the upcoming game a few moments later. Joshua was facing the animal, not his human companion, and so he made no move to conceal the sly smirk that spread across his lips. When he glanced over his shoulder at Gabe, his smile was innocent, friendly. "Why yes, of course, I've always loved playing it," he said, shrugging lightly. "It gives the cabins less recognized for our raw strength a chance to show our skills." He was, in a way, snidely placing his own cabin apart from the likes of the big three. Everyone knew what they could do, but it was startling how much his cabin and the others were overlooked. He resisted the urge to scowl at the thought, instead keeping his expression friendly.
"And you?" he continued. "Are you and your mates-" he meant friends, not romantic partners, of course, "excited about the game?"

Gabe stood up, he had just finished adjusting the stirrups to his hight. You would think when you are eighteen you would stop growing, being a halfblood had it's surprises. He put his hand on Charcoal's muzzle felling the hairs bristle their warm welcome to Gabe and he walked round to her right side and foot his foot on the stirrup. He gave a tentative step up letting both feet lift off the ground and Gabe held himself there for a moment before lowering his feet back to the ground. Better safe than sorry. " You could say hat, just look outside the Demeter cabin... the really gay colors say it all." He said as he noted that the Demeter campers had put huge brighly coloured flowers in front of their cabin, they were usually just shrubbery or the occasional splash of colour. He blushed every time he walked past his cabin and saw the giant over bright, unnaturally over grown flowers. He chuckled guessing that Josh had seen the atrocity as well. heck, who couldn't.
Gabe was glad he was going to have company while he was in the skies. As much as he liked the feel of wind on his face and the clouds threatening to squish him, it could be kind of lonely. He patted Charcoal before he strode out from the Pegasi stall and to the barn doors. He could see the sun through the small opening and could see the light filtering through the cracks and gaps in the door. He smiled as he opened the doors fully and felt the rush of wind in welcoming. He wanted to stand there forever but knew it wasn't an opportunity. He walked back to the stall slowly. He could feel the loose hay crunching under his converse and the soft whining of horses further in the barn. He arrived at Charcoals Stall. He didn't waste anytime he put his foot in one of the stirrups and swung himself over so he sat on top of the Pegasi. He was checking behind where he sat proudly at the beasts wings. He could see them itching. " Yah, the Demeter cabin and Ares cabin have a small truce so to speak. How are your campers doing?"He asked without pushing, not rally knowing if he got an answer, and not really caring if he did. It would be nice though. Gabe motioned with his hand for Josh to lead the way out of the stables when he was ready.

Joshua half-cackled with amusement, his grin displaying wicked delight as he recalled the last time he'd taken a stroll past the Demeter cabin. "Ah, but it says nothing for it's occupants, so amusing as that was... I won't judge." Oh, Joshua could be an ignorant asshole more often than not, but prejudice was something he tried to refrain from using. After all, if people relied on the several stereotypes about him, they'd think he was some high-life living player who thought he was the king of the world. He definitely loved the ladies, but he wasn't some sort of pimp, he had his morales as sure as everyone else did. Most people just didn't give him enough of a chance to find that much out. "Though in all fairness to your mates, dude, you should swing by our cabin after a party, then you might not feel so glum." Another laugh escaped his lips. Ah, was it really surprising that some of good ol' Mr. D's kids had a fondness for alcohol? And on this certain stereotype, Joshua could hardly count himself out. He was in love with his liquor, that was for sure. "It's hella fun the night of, but that morning after is always killer. Sheds a whole new light, indeed." He didn't mind talking this way about his siblings, after all, it wasn't like he was setting himself apart from them. He was one of the bunch. "But hey, I certainly haven't got a problem with it."
He shrugged as he led the Pegasi gently from the stall, his usual bad-boy persona fading for a moment as he continued to speak to the creature, then focused the strength in his arms, gained from years of archery, to swing himself onto its back. It wasn't like he'd never done it before, so it wasn't a horrible attempt, and he managed to steady himself. "Woah," he chuckled. "Head rush." He glanced backward at Gabriel, grinning as he now decided to respond to what he'd said before. He'd only taken his mount first to ensure that their chattering didn't side-track them from actually getting off the ground, he was excited to fly, after all. He found it fun.
"Truce, eh?" And so perhaps it was so stereotypical Canadian, but he'd been born and raised there until he was nine years old, so a few touches of the old habit were sure to escape him occasionally. And he had never lost the touch to his accent, either. He might live in another country now, but he never forgot their home in BC, all the way back before any of this confusion had become clear. "Grand. I've met Gwendolyn, though admittedly the circumstances were a bit unpleasant." He grinned at the memory of that day in the forest, the memory rushing back. It hadn't been too long ago, certainly not long enough for it to fade into obscurity. "We get along alright, though, so that counts for something." He wondered if Gabriel would offer a truce. If so, would he accept it?
Most likely, he decided,
After all, he liked them both, and their three teams would surely form a formidable trio. Don't get ahead of yourself, Joshua, he cautioned himself. He hasn't asked yet, perhaps he might. But even still, his decision for the future was already made. "My cabin is no different than usual, sadly. With all the interesting things going on as of late, I'd have expected a bit of entertainment." Joshua chuckled. "Ready to fly?" he asked, grinning.
