A TARGET PAINTED ON HER BACKs_h_e__k_e_e_p_s__a__l_i_s_to f_ t h e_ q u a l i t i e s_ a_ g o o d_ g i r l_ l a c k s_________________________________________________ A light frown played across his face as the ever-insistent wind buffeted him. "There is no way I'm ever going to get much done when it's-" He fell silent as, almost like it was trying to back up his point, the arrow careened in the other direction, lodging itself in the bark at the edge of the forest. He cursed several times under his breath and even muttered a few violent things about the gods in a malevolent tone. He had enough respect that he wouldn't say it to their faces, or in front of their children, but the courtesy ended there. Zeus was often blamed colorfully and verbally for his bad moods induced by violent thunder storms. He hated the rain. Hated water, too, which was why Poseidon was another on his list of disliked deities. Hades was alright. God of the dead, he had nothing wrong with that. As long as he didn't have to become acquainted with him any time soon.
As he strode purposefully toward the treeline and yanked hard on the shaft of the arrow, a realization came to him. The shaft snapped in his hand, as he'd expected it might, but he didn't mind too much, he had plenty of arrows left in the quiver. But he realized that there was much less wind in the forest. "A hell of a lot more obstacles," he grumbled under his breath, then pushed that aside. "Hell, I'm always up for a challenge." Not many people muttered to themselves as often as he did. When you didn't have many friends, you were your own constant companion, and you learned to make-do with what you could. Flicking the few strands of hair away from his eyes that were shielding his vision, he abandoned the broken arrow and ventured deeper into the forest.
A small clearing seemed a good enough place to practice, but there was still the matter of wind, and so he bypassed it, choosing a thicker area nearby as his target practice. He spent a good hour or so shooting at random objects, occasionally breaking an arrow, the wind still a nuisance every now and then. But it was much less of a problem here than it had been out in the open, so he didn't complain under his breath as yet another arrow missed it's mark. He waited for a moment until the wind had calmed, then took aim out into the clearing, which he'd wandered over to the edge of. His goal was for the speeding projectile to embed itself in the soft bark of a dead tree across the clearing. When he had the target in his line, he released the bow.
Bad timing, indeed.
Instead of flying in a straight line, a sudden and violent gust of wind caused it to veer strongly to the right. It wouldn't have been more than the cause of a few grumbled insults toward the skies, until he noticed the fact that it almost hit someone. "Whoops," he chuckled. It had missed, but some people at this camp were really irritable. Like himself. Prepare for an interesting conversation, he remarked to himself, recognizing her as a daughter of Ares, though of her name, he was unaware.

I AM NOT SO SERIOUS this passion is a plagarismI MIGHT JOIN YOUR CENTURYbut only on a rare occasion Gwendolyn sighed lightly, looking up at the sky through the trees. she had her weapon at her side, just in case any monsters wanted to put a damper on her day. She'd had a son of Hephaestus make it for her. They were always so fancy with their work, she loved it. She actually got along pretty well with the Hephaestus cabin. She didn't know why. Maybe it was just because they made kickass weapons? Probably. Sweet Hades, you can be shallow, she told herself. Yeah, but she wasn't ashamed of it.
Gwen leaned against a tree, closing her eyes for a moment to feel the surrounding nature. "Hey!" a voice shrieked in her ear. She stood straight up, turning around to face the tree. She could make out a face in it. "Oh, sorry," she said, offering a weak smile. Fucking dryads, she thought to herself, annoyed. yeah, she loved nature and everything, but those nymphs were just so touchy. You so much as go near them and they start bitching at you. Geez!
Gwendolyn started walking through the forest again, going towards camp. She'd been in the forest for a little while and she really didn't want to be attacked by some monster. Yeah, she could definitely take them on, but she wasn't in the mood for them to intrude. They didn't have to though, cause something else did.
An arrow flew right past her head, missing but getting fairly close. Gwen quickly turned her head in the direction that it had come from. It wasn't some Apollo camper as she'd originally thought. It was actually a son of Dionysus, Josh if she remembered correctly. She recalled that he was the cabin's leader. She didn't usually remember names, but you had to look out for someone that could make you lose your sanity.
This fact didn't make her any less angry though. He'd almost shot it through her face! that was not cool! She mad her way towards him, her footfalls and expression letting him know she was pissed. "What the fuck's wrong with you?" she asked him,, furious. "Are you fucking blind!? And why are you even practicing out here? You're just begging for some dryad to go off on you for hitting their tree!" She'd be surprised if the boy hadn't gotten chewed out already. Dryads didn't like people shooting arrows into their trees.

He had one of his own, but he was relatively calm for the most part, until you provoked him enough. Then he lashed out without warning and jumped down your throat. A slight smirk played across his thin lips as she snapped at him, asking him snidely if he was blind. "On the contrary, my vision remains perfectly clear, thank you for your concern." Oh, he knew she hadn't meant it in a kind way, but he just responded in such a way to the sarcasm of others. If you snapped at him, he tried to piss you off by acting as if he was perfectly content. It usually went off without a hitch, people were so damn touchy in this place, it was unbelievable. It made him laugh, watching their faces turn red and their eyes narrow. He took great entertainment in bothers others.
"You see, there is this lovely element called wind," he continued, his voice still carrying that arrogantly light tone, "and it happened to be disrupting my practicing, and so I retreated into the trees. Unlike you and your sword-fighters, wind happens to affect the direction in which my arrows fly. Which, I would assume, you'd realize. No need to get all upset about it, I missed you, didn't I?" He was still smirking. "You weren't my intended target either way, I was aiming over there." He gestured almost nonchalantly to the spot he'd chosen as the target range.
The wind buffeted him now that he'd stepped into the clearing, tossing dark strands of hair into his eyes. He ignored it for the most part. "As for the dryads, I'm very careful to avoid them. I respect this forest, though I'm sure it'll surprise you." It surprised almost everyone, in fact. He had little to no respect for humankind, and yet when it came to nature and animal life, he was exceedingly careful not to disrupt anything. "There's no harm done, to you or their forest, and so unless you're dying to fight me, I'd suggest you relax," he said, his tone no longer annoyingly polite, but not quite hostile either. If she continued to bitch at him, however, this would change.
After a moment, he decided to take a different approach, rather than trying to be threatening or irritating. Of all the cabins, the Ares cabin was one which he generally tended to get along with, given his own secretive love for violence. "What are you doing in the forest, anyways?" It wasn't accusing, demanding, or arrogant, just curious. Joshua did have those few rare moments when he'd say more than a few friendly words to someone. "It's not exactly the ideal day for a nature walk." As he mused aloud, he glared at the cloudy, gloomy skies that were the cause for the violent winds. He muttered something about Zeus' temper under his breath, shaking his head.

I AM NOT SO SERIOUS this passion is a plagarismI MIGHT JOIN YOUR CENTURYbut only on a rare occasion Gwendolyn narrowed her eyes at the boy when he sounded perfectly calm. He's just trying to piss me off now, isn't he? she asked herself. She hated it when people remained so calm when she was yelling at them. they should at least yell back or maybe cower in fear.. Yeah, cowering in fear would be amusing.
Gwendolyn bit her lip a little when the boy went on, bringing up the wind in his arrogant tone. "Yeah, I think I'd know what wind is," she said, sneering at him. Sweet fucking Hades, she hated this guy already. Although, it wasn't hard to believe that she would develop hate for someone upon just meeting them. Usually she judged people rather harshly. If you weren't the kind of person she liked, she immediately hated you. Not even just dislike, total hate. Sometimes though, people changed, and she learned to actually like them. But this was very rare. One of the only people that this had happened with ended up dying on a quest. Nice, huh? Gwendolyn didn't like how he referenced sword-fighters and her eyes narrowed again. "I realize that wind would affect an arrow," she said, her lips set in a hard frown. "I just rather dislike archery so I don't pay much attention to it." She rolled her eyes when he brought up that he'd missed her anyway. "Sure, you missed me," she said. "I just don't appreciate it when an arrow flies past my head close enough for me to feel the air bent around it. I'm sure it would put anyone in a bad mood."
"Definitely surprising," she replied, raising an eyebrow. She frowned a little when he suggested that she relax. Relax!? Really?! she though to herself. Does he really expect me to just calm down after that?! What a douche! But she didn't yell at him. She knew it wouldn't get her anywhere. She just put a hand on her hip and pouted slightly. "Whatever," she said, glancing away from him and into the forest. Damn him for ruining my good mood.
Gwendolyn raised an eyebrow at Josh's question. She shrugged lightly. "I don't really care if it isn't an ideal day for that," she said, lifting her chin in a snooty manner. "I like to get around nature as much as possible. Y'know, since there's hardly any left."

A TARGET PAINTED ON HER BACKs_h_e__k_e_e_p_s__a__l_i_s_to f_ t h e_ q u a l i t i e s_ a_ g o o d_ g i r l_ l a c k s_________________________________________________ She was definitely pissed off by his calm arrogance, and it amused Joshua greatly to see her sneer. Pissing people off was hardly a wise thing to do, especially when they often had powers that could back up their anger, but he wasn't too worried. He still had his bow, and he had not slung it on his back yet, just in case. And if all else failed, he could just use his powers to confuse her enough that he could either get her down or escape. Most likely the former, because he wasn't the running type. He was more likely to fight until the last breath was driven from his body than to just give up and die. It just wasn't in his nature. "Then you should be yelling at the sky for ruining your perfect day, and not me," he replied, his tone still irritatingly calm. If she irked him enough, however, he'd probably end up yelling back, and then things might get bad. A violent child of Dionysus versus a likely extremely violent child of Ares would be an interesting and quite worrying battle.
"Regardless of your thoughts on my weapon of choice, you cannot get away with being ticked off because of my arrows if it was not my fault. If you do, it's simply... judgmental, and a bit harsh, hmm?" He smirked. You're probably just asking for it, Joshua, he told himself, but this didn't bother him at all. He was greatly amused. It's not a good thing to be all giddy when you get people in a bad mood, his conscience sniped, but it was ignored, as always. If he were a person to listen to that little voice in his head, he would be drastically different in nature. He followed upon first instinct, and first instinct happened to be telling him that irritating people was amusing.
He wasn't sure whether she was being sarcastic or serious when she said that his love of nature was definitely surprisingly. "Literally, or figuratively?" he questioned, momentarily abandoning the snide formalities and cocking a brow at her. He couldn't help that his desire to know what people were thinking interrupted his fun and games sometimes. He had forced intelligence upon himself, and that had come with some rather pressing side-effects of its own. "Honestly, there's no need to be so touchy. As long as no one was hurt... especially the dryads, they are rather moody." He couldn't help it, he smirked in amusement. Nature was cool and all, but the dryads could snipe you with their anger! So much as touch their trees and they got all defensive!
Josh chuckled. "No reason to be arrogant about it, I don't judge people on their affinity to nature." Surprisingly enough, he used pre-judgment less often than not. After all, with what people assumed of him, he had learned that rumors and gossip were hardly an accurate way to deduce whether you'd get along with someone. She probably hated him anyways. Ah well. There were plenty of fish in the sea, or in this case, kids in the camp, you couldn't get along with all of them.
