PRAY TO YOUR GOD, OPEN YOUR HEART( whatever you do, don't be afraid of the d a r k )It was midnight.
He wasn't afraid of the darkness, not in the least. It was a bit more mysterious, seeing as you couldn't see what crouched in the shadows until your eyes adjusted to the gloom, but that was all part of the fun. He didn't like the unknown, but on another hand, the thought of a hidden danger hit him with a kind of a thrill. It was hard to explain. At any rate, he slipped quietly from the cabin, his insomnia seeming to take a vengeance upon his good sleeping schedule as of late. Knew it wouldn't last forever, he thought dryly. His mother had, years ago, tried to get him to take prescription sleeping pills for the problem, but he'd refused, much like he didn't take prescription headache pills for headaches like the one that was now throbbing insistently at the back of his skull. But he was used to the headaches, sadly enough, and so it was only a small nuisance. The fact that he couldn't sleep irked him more, at this moment.
It was a bad day when Joshua didn't leave without his bow, and it was slung across his back now, casting an odd shape to his silhouette as he strode silently in the direction of the strawberry fields. When he found a good spot of soft grass in the center, he sat down lightly, leaning back on his palms and glancing up at the sky, currently starless. A soft sigh parted the dark-haired demigods lips. It was on nights like these that his thoughts became carried away with him. Josh had met his father, but unlike many of the others, he didn't hate him. Just wondered why everything was stuck this way. It sucked, really. Having to hide from the mortals, cover up everything with lies and deceptions. It wasn't like he was a bad liar, even. He was brilliant in the art of deception. It was just... exhausting, living your whole life behind a mask. His mother had died for this. They'd never been particularly close, but that didn't mean to say it hadn't affected him.
A pale hand brushed against a vine, and he was momentarily distracted. It was no grape vine of course, not in a field full of strawberries. He yawned slightly. Maybe it's time I was getting back... he thought to himself, already standing. But he didn't move from the spot he'd chosen, still debating in his mind. Did he really think he could sleep right now? No. Another long sigh. On some nights, the insomnia wasn't a bother. For someone who'd suffered daily in elementary school physically pushing themselves to the brink of sanity in an effort to be normal, a little sleep deprivation was nothing. But solitude when there wasn't even anything to do on your own was... well, boring, to be blunt enough.
He stiffened when he thought he heard something rustle behind him. All instincts said to turn and attack whatever it was, but he forced his muscles to slowly relax. It's likely just another camper who got short straws on the sleeping bargain, Joshua, he reminded himself. Calm down. Exhaling as he forced himself not to arm his bow, he turned and glanced in their direction, his gaze neither friendly nor hostile, but oddly expressionless.

Eve found herself staring out her window back at camp, her eyes shining like the stars above her. Although she was a morning person, she adored the night, especially nights like this. It was cool but bearable. There was not a single cloud in the sky and soft moonlight transformed the camp into a midnight utopia. At least for Eve. She examined the night sky and found what she was looking for; the constellation Virgo. A small smile began to dance upon her lips. She felt like on of the fortunate demigods at Camp Half Blood - She adored her mother and on clear nights such as this one Eve knew that she was being watched upon by her mother in the stars.
Although she was tired, Eve was unable to sleep. Although she knew she would kick herself for it later, Eve quickly threw on a pair of track pants and tip toed outside. Crickets chirped melodiously and Eve made up her mind - to the strawberry fields she would go. Eve had the midnight munchies, why not make the best of the situation?
She headed to the familiar field nimbly, being careful not to wake anyone who was sleeping soundly at camp. As she neared the field, she noticed a vaguely familiar dark head of hair laying in the field, a bow resting on his right side. Although Eve could see in the dark, the foliage of the field and the angle he was on made her companion unidentifiable. Fixated on trying to determine who else was in the field, she did not realize how loud her steps have become. It was a bad habit of hers and was often mocked about it; she thumped around like an elephant. The rustling sound that Eve was making caused the unknown student to raise his head.
Eve scrolled through her list of faces and recognized him; Joshua, son of Dionysus. She had never actually talked to him, however she was well aware of his notorious history. This being said, she was surprised when he simply gazed at her, his eyes neither hostile nor welcoming. Eve shifted her weight for a moment, unsure of what to say. "Couldn't sleep either?" Eve asked, slowly lowering herself to a sitting position. She placed her right arm next to her hip and leaned forward to a strawberry bush. With her left hand, she gently plucked two ripe fruits from its grasp. "Strawberry?" She offered, outstretching her palm to him to choose which of the berries he would prefer.

PRAY TO YOUR GOD, OPEN YOUR HEART( whatever you do, don't be afraid of the d a r k )His gray eyes scanned the girls appearance briefly. He wasn't checking her out, at least not in the manner of his usual sweep, merely racking his mind to decide whether they had already met before, or not. He recognized her as the leader of her cabin, she was a daughter of Astraea, and her name was Eve, but that was as far as the recognition went. Still, she had done nothing to either appease or offend him, and so he didn't change his expression. If she spoke, this encounter would likely determine his opinion on her for the rest of the time at camp. For Joshua, first impressions were often everything. If you managed to get on his bad side, getting off it was nearly impossible. He could hold a grudge for years, perhaps decades, but he hadn't lived long enough to prove that yet. And if you got on his good side, it was hard to stay there. He wasn't the friendliest of guys. But a lot of people at the camp thought he was friendly. Until he accidentally proved them wrong.
Either she was in a social mood, or simply trying to break the awkward tension that had fallen upon the moment they'd both noticed one another. "Nope," came his simple response, accompanied by a shrug, his tone almost as flat as his expression. "I've got insomnia. A day I can sleep is a good day." He didn't know why he told her that. It wasn't like it was something he felt he need to keep a secret, he just usually didn't talk unless it benefited him. But hell, he was rather bored after all. He didn't like people, but they were okay to talk to when he had nothing else to do. His opinions on other people would almost suggest he wasn't one. He was perfectly normal in that sense, but he just... hated their species. Irritating, sensitive, inquisitive.
He considered the offer for a moment. I am a bit hungry, he noticed in surprise, though the emotion didn't show in his face. He hadn't eaten much at all today. Practicing again, he remembered. He was dedicated to his studies of his power and his archery, and so he often skipped meals to get in some extra practice time, or else just didn't eat as much so he could leave early. "Sure," he decided after a moment, shrugging again, stepping forward and selecting the first berry his fingers happened to touch. He wasn't too picky when it came to the strawberries, pretty much all of them were good. And he wasn't disappointed either, the fruit was sweet and satisfying.
Deciding to make conversation, for lack of anything better to do, Joshua sat back down in the grass, now absentmindedly plucking a strawberry every now and then and popping it into his mouth. "So what kept you up?" he asked after swallowing. Some people were kept awake by annoying cabin mates, but she really got a mixture, considering her parent was a minor god. He was stuck with his half-siblings, the other children of Dionysus. Some were quiet, some were noisy, some annoying, some tolerable. They functioned like your usual mortal family. Occasionally, they would look out for one another, but the other half of the time, they were at each others throats. He had never had siblings in childhood, so it had been a shock for him at first. But now, six years later, it was just a nuisance. "Your name is Eve, correct?" He had to be sure, else he would end up referring to her by that name sub-consciously, and end up being mistaken.

Skillfully, Eve rolled the strawberry to her fingertips and gripped its green leaves with her thumb and index finger. She brought it to her lips and ate it in a single bite. She was a fast eater and chewed quickly, flicking the leaves of the strawberry back into the field. She leaned forward and picked a handful, placing the berries on her lower torso. Once the berries were settled in place she placed both hands behind her hips and leaned back on them arching her back slightly to help relieve some of the tension that it was under.
`Nothing actually kept me up. It was just such a gorgeous night that I felt like it would be a waste to fall asleep.`` Eve confessed and took a moment to glance up at the sky. Yes, it would be a waste if she had not decided to stay up, `This being said, I`m sure the novelty must wear off at some point for you`, being awake most nights and all.`` Eve pondered that thought for a moment. She couldn`t imagine suffering from insomnia. Although she made jokes like `you can sleep when you`re dead`, she couldn`t imagine getting less than five hours of sleep a night. ``I don`t know how you manage. I think that I would topple over and be unable to function.``
She took a moment and took a strawberry off her body and plopped it into her mouth, enjoying the refreshing taste. There was something about the small fruit that reminded her of the summer.. ``These strawberries are good. Probably the best I`ve ever had, but raspberries are still my favourite.`` Eve mused aloud as she had another strawberry. When her father was alive, he bought her fresh raspberries every day simply because he knew that Eve was fond of them. She seemed lost in thought before Joshua`s voice brought her back to reality.
``Sorry about that, I kinda zoned. I swear that doesn`t happen often!`` Eve laughed light-heartedly. The sing-song like sound carrying across the field, ``Eve Arwin Hawkins, daughter of Astraea. Pleased to formally meet your acquaintance.`` she said with a warm smile that shown like the stars above them as she extended a slightly strawberry juice covered hand toward him.

PRAY TO YOUR GOD, OPEN YOUR HEART( whatever you do, don't be afraid of the d a r k )Joshua nodded slightly as he pondered her words, glancing up at the sky for a moment. "It is nice out," he agreed nonchalantly. "I prefer the night over day. I don't like the chill it brings, but there's much less commotion." He didn't like being amidst a large crowd of people. Although, when playing an exhilarating game like Capture The Flag, he was prone to tolerating it with more ease than usual. In competition, he was more focused on winning than who happened to be around him. Josh had always been rather competitive, it was in his nature. His mother had never quite understood why he had to sit in front of the TV for hours playing video games until his name was flashing at the top of the scores list. Graduating from childhood nonsense, he now wanted to excel in Camp Half-blood.
A soft chuckle parted his thin lips. "Indeed, it gets pretty irritating when you're awake three nights in a row with only a few hours of sleep for each." His head dipped softly to emphasis the agreement. She was lucky she'd caught him in a good mood, he was being much less judgmental than usual. "But it's also something you have to get used to after a while. Just like our abilities. They're not going away, so we've all got to suck up and adjust." Although, he didn't quite understand why some resented their powers. He loved being able to screw with peoples minds, it was incredibly fun, and he made a killer wine, as well. Josh loved drinking, but the legal drinking age complicated things, so he usually just stuck with making his own. It was much easier. "Sometimes it's a bit hard to shake off the fatigue, but I've forced past it for the most part. I've had no other choice." You couldn't just sit and laze around when the world around you was practically failing.
"Agreed," he mused, as he himself plucked a fat, juicy fruit from the bush and removed the leaves, tossing them aside before he popped the rest of the strawberry in his mouth. After he had chewed it and swallowed, as he found talking with your mouth full absolutely disgusting, he added, "but they're also my favorite fruit, so I suppose I'd find them appealing no matter how good they were." Strawberries were delicious. He liked oranges and such as well, but strawberries were a league of their own.
Joshua chuckled when she said that it didn't happen often. "I'm guessing that it would," he said, his voice lightly teasing, but not judgmental. "After all, most of us suffer from such distractions. I've learned to avoid it most of the time, but I still find my mind wandering on occasion." It had been in desperation that he'd fought, life and limb, to regulate his ADHD and dyslexia to a manageable level. And once he had, he'd found a love for reading. He was actually quite the bookworm, literature was very fascinating, and much less annoying than the company of people. Books just shut up and let you read.
He took her hand, not in the least bit bothered by the strawberry juice. "Joshua Donovan Dale, son of Dionysus, though I go by Josh only, for the most part." Joshua just sounded a bit... formal. Searching for a topic of conversation, he decided to go with something most demigods could relate to. "Have you ever met your mother?"

As a cool breeze swept across the field, Eve felt a compulsion to lie down in the field; a compulsion which she acted upon. She slowly lowered her body and was lying in the hay. Although her movement was slow and controlled a few strawberries rolled off her torso. Her arms crossed against her chest as she played with a stray strawberry that rolled towards her during the lying down process. Although she was lying down, she turned her head to face him.
"I agree entirely and find that its only really cold during the winter. Personally, summer nights are my favourite. When its warm but not muggy and the stars seem to shine brightest. It's so serene and soothing it's almost therapeutic. " Eve said with particular fondness. She was a type 'A' personality and carried more worry and stress than any sane person should handle. Oh well, although it was not healthy, Eve managed... she always managed.
As Josh lightly teased her, she let out a fake gasp. "How dare you." She said, her voice full of mock hurt as he commented that she probably blanks more often than she claims. She playfully tossed a small strawberry at him in her defense. "Believe it or not, I'm not actually that ADHD. I guess I'm too bust organizing, scheduling and freaking out to suffer from it. Sometimes I think that's a shame - I hear it keeps things interesting." She left out a shallow laugh. It was funny... in a depressing sort of a way.
Josh shook her strawberry covered hand and their meeting was now official. She was slightly taken off guard by the next question he asked her.
Have you ever met your mother?
"Technically, no." Eve replied without hesitation, "I've never met her face to face, but I know her. She's in the stars every night; under the constellation Virgo. I don't know quite how to describe it, but I can almost feel her sometimes. The angel on my shoulder or the light on my path. She helps me get back on track whenever I wander... One day I wish to meet her." Her tone was light and sincere. She did not speak of her mother often for it was not a topic of regular discussion, at least not for her. She was an only child and Astraea was not morally corrupt, unlike many of her counterparts.
"How about you?" Eve asked, intrigued. It perplexed her how many of her peers have never met their god parents yet often loath them. She found the dynamic greatly imbalanced yet Eve could understand why they felt that way. No one wants to learn that one of their birth parents is a lying, cheating, greedy, power-hungry monster.
((Sorry it's kinda cr*ppy - I need some sleep myself. xD)

PRAY TO YOUR GOD, OPEN YOUR HEART( whatever you do, don't be afraid of the d a r k )Joshua cringed slightly in distaste when he felt the cool breeze against his skin, but quickly tried to adjust to the chill as best as he could. Cold weather was not his favorite thing. Although he had grown up in a coastal province in Canada, whose winters were practically notorious, he had never quite adapted to the chillier months of the year. You would assume, then, that he would have welcomed the move to America. But he still missed his home sometimes. Canada had been everything he'd known until he was nine years old, and he still missed it sometimes. He would have loved to visit in the summer, but he couldn't risk being away from Camp Half-blood for such an extensive period of time. He didn't want to get himself trapped, alone, in a country that was foreign to most people who would be of any help to him. Internally, he sighed, but he didn't let that dampen his mood on the surface, as he was still in conversation with Eve.
"Mmm," came the soft murmur of agreement, not a fully formed word, as Josh was distracting himself by watching the strawberry bushes rustle in the wind. He was thinking about how much he longed for the summer months to arrive. Spring was far better than the cold months, but he still didn't like it quite as much as the hottest month of the year. A few of his siblings teased him occasionally about his hatred for the cold, saying that he sounded more like a child of Hephaestus or Apollo. He often retaliated by throwing the closest object in the room at their heads. He didn't like teasing, unless it was in light humor. "I just don't like the mosquitoes and wasps which summer brings," he laughed. He didn't mention that he hated all bugs in general. He didn't need to admit his fear of creepy crawlies to this girl on their first encounter, perhaps not ever. He didn't like to admit weakness, and in his opinion, fear was definitely a weakness.
Though he usually didn't like to joke around, or particularly appreciate anything being thrown at him, he did chuckle slightly as he was hit with the strawberry, plucking a few and lobbing them at her in retaliation, careful not to throw them too hard, lest they splatter and cause a mess, or else just hurt. He had a pretty good throw, and good aim thanks to archery. Your aim had to be pretty skilled with arrows. His gray eyes sparkled with amusement, but his tone returned to a serious one as he replied, "I've pretty much learned to avoid mine, as well. As a kid, I was determined not to fall behind, so I did whatever I could to avoid it," he admitted, then added a chuckle to break from the tension he felt. He usually didn't admit things like this in case it could be taken as weakness, but he was proud of what he'd overcome. He liked being able to claim that he was intelligent, and not be lying through his teeth. He then chuckled. "I never really found it too interesting, to be honest. Now it hardly bothers me, but when it does act up, it's more annoying than entertaining."
He wondered silently as she spoke. He was curious about what it was like to know your other parent was a god or goddess, and yet not really know them at all. He had met Dionysus shortly after arriving to Camp Half-blood, and had only really known his "father" hadn't died in a car accident for a few days previous. He couldn't remember what had been going through his mind in that short span of time. Everything had been a sudden whirlwind of confusion, as Patricia had tried to cram years worth of truths he'd never been exposed to in a single week or so. But he still kept enough concentration to take in her words, and he also caught the return of the question at the end.
Joshua nodded, then laughed. "Is there anyone here who doesn't know him?" he asked, only half-kidding. He didn't seem to like many people at all. But Josh liked him a lot. His pestering of the other students only enhanced his respect for the Olympian. The fact that his father was a god still did weird him out occasionally, as he hadn't believed in myths and monsters until he was eleven years old and casually flung into this world, but he was also alright with it. "Of course I have. And I don't hate him, nor do I understand why many often do."

As a cool, night breeze passed through the field and Eve shivered slightly. Although she loved the winter, she hated the cold. Especially when it was cold or chilly during the spring or fall. It was support to be cool, not cold. Well, it probably wasn't as frigid as Eve believed it was; she had poor circulation and became cold quickly. Bio thermal regulation was almost nonexistent for her.
Eve let out a small sigh of content. The crickets beckoned her to sleep with their lullaby but Eve resisted. Yes, their songs were beautiful, however she was not ready to drift off to into her private world of dreams. At midnight, the night was still to young to do so. As Josh chucked, she turned on her side, full body now facing toward him. Just as she turned, a lobbed strawberry gently hit unsuspecting Eve square on the forehead. Her expression was blank for a moment before she let out a giggle. Another strawberry then hit her chest and bounced onto the ground. Her blue eyes sparkled with amusement. For someone who seemed to serious he at least knew when not to take Eve seriously.
"I bet the ADHD attacks are only annoying because you're a rather intelligent and focused individual; almost a rarity in these parts." She now teased her peers light-heartedly. Although Eve was kind hearted, she was not a liar. She cared about her peers deeply, however she would be going against all that she believed in if she said that they were all sharp as tacks. She could empathize with her dark haired companion; especially when you think you've got the condition under control it can act up spontaneously and serve to be a giant pain-in-the-ass. "You have to admit, some of the campers that go here aren't exactly the sharped crayons in the box." Inwardly, she shook her head. Many of them have yet to realize the seriousness of their talent. In many ways being a demigod was both a blessing and a curse, however Eve believed that like almost everything else in life, it depended on your perspective.
All seriousness aside, Eve felt a small smile creep onto her lips as Josh spoke of his father. She felt respect for him begin to grow inside her. She had heard many a story of Dionysus and respected Josh's attitude toward his father. On a certain level, it was not that much different from the way she saw her own god parent. Never the less, Eve personally found Dionasys somewhat arrogant, but she kept her mouth shut. Everyone was entitled to their own opinion and since technically Eve had never had more than a six word conversation with the man, she should not judge lets her be judged herself.
With her arms under her head acting as pillow, Eve concluded something as she looked a Josh; she liked him. He seemed like a decent human being (so to speak) and she enjoyed talking to him. And he wasn't flighty, which was refreshing. Hopefully Josh felt mutually about what Eve perceived to be their newly foraged friendship. Her fondness aside, a brilliant idea involving one of her other friends hit her on the head.
"I don't want you to take this the wrong way or anything, but I have a friend that may be able to help you sleep better at night. His name's Jake Farrows, son of Morpheus." Eve began revealing her plan in a moderately slow and quiet tone. She really did not want to offend Josh. But since he suffered from insomnia and Josh had the ability to make others tired and put them to sleep, she thought that their meeting might be of some benefit to Josh. Then again, she could be sorely mistaken. " Do you know him and or get along with him? You're allowed to say no. I won't be offended. Besides, I think it would be useful for you to know that there's not use lying to me." She added at a quicker pace, not wanting to make the mood awkward. She also did not want Josh to feel like she was intruding. Inwardly, Eve let out a sigh. She wanted to save everyone, and since there was not enough time in the day, why not try and help Josh at night?

PRAY TO YOUR GOD, OPEN YOUR HEART( whatever you do, don't be afraid of the d a r k )The soft lament of the crickets in the background was rather relaxing. Joshua had always loved nature, more than he was given credit for, and their songs were not as annoying to him as they seemed to be to several of his cabin mates, who would sometimes complain under their breath about the noise. I don't see what's so bad about it, he thought. The laughter of himself and Eve soon joined the chorus of the cricket-song, as he lobbed the fruits in her direction and caused her to giggle. Laughter was not something often infectious in his case, but when he was in a good mood such as tonight, he couldn't help but let a chuckle or two escape. Everyone was so serious around here, worried about the fading mist and the like, it was good to just relax every once and a while. His father didn't want to do anything about the situations concerning the camp, but Josh was a little more concerned. Sure, he would rather be lazy about it, who wanted to get off their ass and do work, but what would happen if the mist disappeared completely, and their world was exposed to the mortals? It would be bad for all of us, he sighed. But I don't know what we're all expected to do about it. I sure don't know how to fix the damn stuff. It wasn't like a technical error where you flipped a switch and everything was back to normal!
He laughed again at her next comment. "I try not to let it bother me, but it does," he admitted with a shrug. He had worked so hard in his youth, the thought that his efforts would slip and he'd relapse back into his old ways was... well, terrifying to say the least. He was more afraid of that than he was of drowning, or bugs, or death! But he'd never admit that he feared it that much, he didn't even like admitting it to himself. "They're the equivalent of the poor black crayon everyone loves so much, worn down to little stumps," he joked. "And I'm that sad little white crayon no one likes 'cause I don't show up against the paper." His gray eyes sparkled with amusement. Poor white crayon. He usually didn't joke like this, but his mood was affecting his personality at the moment. Humorous comments were always there of course, he just usually kept them to himself.
He wondered what Eve was thinking about when she lay back in the grass. He wasn't a self-conscious person, but he often did wish he had the power to peer into the minds of those around him, gather their thoughts about him and piece together what their opinion was. He knew he was an asshole, and a player, and he knew that most of the girls in camp avoided him based solely on his reputation alone. The guys didn't like him most of the time because he was arrogant, confident, and anti-social, for the most part. But when he was in a good mood, like this, it was hard to tell what opinions might be. After all, he couldn't just step out of his body and judge whether he was being likable. Eve doesn't seem to hate me, he mused. And I get along with Gabriel and Gwen, too. It all depended on how they judged him, how they spoke to him, and what sort of a mood he was in. Those qualities in conversation often determined what sort of relationship he'd have with another.
And, of course, if a girl was hot... that went without saying.
Pushing all sexual thoughts to the back of his mind before they turned this conversation with his obviously feminine acquaintance into a very awkward situation, he furrowed his brow at her words, trying to recall if he'd ever met a Jake before. "Morpheus, huh? Nah, don't think I have." Still, he was well aware that Morpheus was the god of dreams, and the thought of someone else putting him into an induced sleep-state sort of wigged him out. He liked screwing with the minds of others, but the thought of having his own messed with was freaky. "Hmm... but can't he like, I don't know, read your dreams?"{/color] His tone suggested that he was a little hesitant to consider the idea, but not in any way trying to offend either Eve nor her friend. After all, it had only been a suggestion, not a threat or anything, so he could take it lightly.
He shook his head when she asked if he'd met or liked him. "I've heard of him, yes, but I don't think we've said a single word in conversation," he admitted. "I'm not the most talkative of guys, if you haven't heard." He would be surprised if she hadn't at least heard something, people at the camp were pretty hooked on gossip. They may be separated from the mortal world, but some things never changed. Drama was everywhere.
However, at what she'd added, he felt a slightly irritated and defensive note color his mind. No use lying, huh? "I don't appreciate threats, if that's what that was," he said, his tone careful. "I've got enough respect to keep my own abilities to myself." He hated the idea of someone knowing when he was being deceptive. Josh was a great liar, but if she had some creepy power against it, it was going to be hard for him to speak freely around her. There were a lot of things he liked to beat around the bush on, and having someone who knew you weren't being truthful around would sort of irritate him.

Cas sprinted along the grounds of the camp. She was up again and she wasn't planning on sleeping. She did a couple of cartwheels into flips and landed perfectly on her feet in a defensive stance. She was training herself to be more agile and flexible in case she would need it. And growing up with a single father in the so called 'ghetto' would do that to a kid.
So she decided to walk the rest of the way and decide for herself if she was going to try and contact her mother. She had been having a hard time lately with the whole 'you're a demigod and the daughter of Artemis so use your powers wisely' kind of a thing. It was all really frustrating because she hadn't met her mother; she should've been the one to explain all of this to Cas. But she didn't she was too much of a chicken to come down from her throne and actually take responsibility for her daughter
"God, I hate her" she mumbled as she came to the Strawberry fields. She came here frequently when she didn't sleep which was all the time. Since her mother was the Goddess of the Moon; she frequently found herself sitting up at night. Insomnia was something she was used to and if she actually got a good night's sleep she would be scared for her life. She heard some voices and instantly placed up her guard. She reached for her hair clips and a bow and a quiver full of arrows came out.
She placed the quiver on her back and held the bow firmly in her hands along with an arrow. She snuck carefully through the rows of strawberries and eventually triangulated where the noises had come from. She was particularly protective of this place because Tanner, her newest pet falcon, liked to hunt near here. And she wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt him. So she heard more voices and placed the arrow in the middle of the bow. She snuck up behind the person and then stood up straight. "Don't move" she spoke in a commanding voice as she aimed the arrow at one of their heads.
"Who the hell are you and what the hell are you guys doing out here?"she asked but didn't lower her bow. "I'm out here because you guys are awfully close to my bird's hunting lands" Cassie explained as Tanner decided to fly down to where they were. He landed on her shoulder and glanced at the two of them while tilting his head. "Who are they?" he asked Cas. She shook her head. "I don't know, but I think they're not going to hurt you" she explained to him. "They better not" she mumbled the last part, tightening her grip on the bow a bit. Tanner nodded and turned his gaze to the two people. He narrowed his eyes and flapped his wings a bit, "As you wish Cassandra" he spoke obediently

PRAY TO YOUR GOD, OPEN YOUR HEART( whatever you do, don't be afraid of the d a r k )The momentarily distracted from Eve's words about deception was immediately forgotten when he heard a voice warn him not to move. Most people in such a situation would tense up and freeze, not wanting to be hit with an arrow, but Joshua didn't appreciate being threatened one bit, and so he jumped to his feet and pulled out his bow, quickly notching an arrow and drawing it back. "Speak for yourself," he snapped. "So much as shoot that thing near me and I'll make sure I don't miss." He was used to taking immediate action to a threat against his safety, but it was usually not the other campers who threatened him. "As for the bird, I don't give a damn whose hunting grounds it is, you have no right to threaten us for being here. You don't own the fields any more than I do."
He was tempted to fire his bow, let an arrow loose to show her just how serious he was when provoked. "Joshua, son of Dionysus, I'm out here 'cause I fucking felt like being out here." His brows arched coolly in a challenging manner, his eyes narrowed dangerously. Just like the girl, he didn't lower his weapon. She could be waiting for a sign of weakness, some sort of opening. He didn't trust anyone. The fact that he'd been getting alone fine with Eve was a fluke caused by his good mood, which had been immediately soured upon Cas' entry of the scene. "Course we're not going to hurt your damn bird," he snarled with a role of his eyes. "What the hell is wrong with you, hm? We were sitting and talking like normal fucking people until you decided to come along."
Keep your temper in check, Joshua, he told himself levelly. If he were to lose control and hurt the girl without her firing first, things could turn bad. Then again, I'd love to see how Gwen reacts to something like this. The fiery daughter of Ares had nearly taken his head off for almost hitting her with one of his arrows, when he hadn't even intended to. What would she do if someone purposely aimed at her? Kick their ass. And he would do the same, if Cassandra didn't plan on lowering her bow. He didn't care if he got in shit for hurting someone else, he'd never been one to comply with rules simply because they were there. He followed rules when he felt like following them. He was rather rebellious in a sense, he had been ever since his mother had forced the move to America upon him as a child.
"Lower the damn bow unless you want me to shoot you first," he snapped at Cassandra. "I don't appreciate threats, daughter of Artemis." He had recognized her as the cabin representative, and only cabin member really. Artemis had found a way around her vow. Bet she thinks that makes her more special than the rest of us. Yeah right. He didn't consider anyone 'special'. You were either a demigod or you weren't. He hated people like the kids of the big three, always flaunting that they were "more powerful" than everyone else.
