Cas ran and ran until her feet throbbed from pain. She pushed pas this searing pain in her legs and kept running. she eventually stopped when she came to a cliff overlooking a huge lake. She literally hit the ground because her feet wouldn't work anymore. She then brought her legs to her chest and just stared at the water in awe.
She had only been here at this stupid place for a few hours and already missed her father and older brother. "I want to go home, I don't even know why I'm here" she spoke out loud as she set her head on top of her legs. No one had really explained what or who Artemis was but apparently Cassandra was her daughter and that was a rarity because she was the only child of Artemis. Most of the other kids were off doing their own thing and didn't even seem to acknowledge Cas. But she didn't care; she didn't want to make friends with the snobs anyway.
But she did wish that she had someone to talk to about what she was feeling. If she had been back home she would just speak to her older brother Casey. Ever since she was little he always understood her better then anyone; even her Dad who at this moment she missed immensely. "Who is Artemis anyway?" she asked the open air
She heard a sound from behind her and got into a defensive stance. "Whoever you are, come out now!" she ordered as she grabbed for her earrings and two long swords appeared. She was surprised to see who walked out as she let down her guard; something she never usually did

Jake sat behind a tree next to the lake. He was in a weird state of sleep, he was still conscious but not yet responsive. He didn't really mind the extra sleep he was getting though. He tried to remember what he dreamed of, he knew he dreamt of nothing, he never does, but he always hoped that his father might show him a sign or something that he is still watching him. He had only met his father once, and he had given Jake a sleep laced spear for his birthday. jake moved his fingers slowly, they tingled but they still moved which reassured Jake as he slowly decided to move his body. His body tingled and was slightly numb, but still working. He sat up and instantly regretted it.
Jake saw black spots and he heard a voice close by but he wasn't sure what it said or who it was, heck, he wasn't even sure he heard anyone, it could have just been his headache. He moaned a little as he held his head, he used the tree for support as he pulled himself up. Jake heard the voice again. He decided it was female, and not a monster. He also heard her talk to herself. Jake swallowed and took a step forward. He was peering through two branches of an evergreen tree. Jake smiled a little, it was most defiantly a camper, most likely a first year for she seemed confused. Jake took another step forward and cringed as he stepped on a branch.
Jake was surprised with her hostility, he was even more surprised when she drew two swords. He didn't know first year campers caught on to camp life so fast now a days. He smirked as he stepped out of the bushes. He put his hands above his head and gave her a wink. "I am safe, no monsters here." He said teasing her. He put his hands by his side as he looked at the girl. She seemed normal, besides the swords, but most demigods appeared normal... and most monsters. "Jake Farrows, DemiGod, nice to meet you daughter of Artemis" He said as he sat on the grass and looked off toward the lake. "And just a heads up for next time, monsters can look like sex demons too." Jake said and laughed it off.

When Cas saw it was a boy her age she lowered her swords as she felt her heart race for some unknown reason. He was cute but she pushed this thought from her head because she had to be careful. She couldn't really trust anyone except for her family. But something about this boy made her think otherwise. So she sighed and made her swords back into earrings and put them back into her cartilage.
She watched as he introduced himself and sat down. She then looked at him like he was crazy. "How do you know I'm the daughter of Artemis? Who is she anyway?' she asked as she stepped closer to the boy and sat near him. There were mere inches between them when she looked him dead in the eyes. "What does she have to do with me?" she asked as she realized that she had invaded this boy's personal space. She blushed heavily and scooted away."Sorry, no one's given me any answers. I don't even know who this Artemis is or why I'm here" she spoke softly as she peered out at the lake "The name's Cas by the way" she added as she looked at the boy with genuine sincerity

Jake nodded as she spoke. It wasn't uncommon for halfbloods to not know their parents but be claimed. He smiled at Cas. He took a deep breathe, he could still smell a lingering odor from her perfume, it smelled like spring. He wasn't going to mention anything though, he was use to people getting up in your face with weapons in their hands... usually trying to kill him. He laughed at his last training session, but brought his mind back to the current. "Have a seat, your mother must have found a loophole in her vows. This story might take a while." Jake patted a seat across from him.
He tried to remember the myths he had heard about her, he only knew the really well known ones but they would have to do for this purpose. Jake wondered how Artemis managed to still have a daughter while staying a virgin. He shrugged and blushed a little, it was a topic Jake tried to stay away from. Especially with a girl he had never met, and one with long pointy sword earring things. He pulled a rock from the ground and inspected it, the rock reminded him of nothing really but he wanted it to. It might sound weird but when Jake is tired, which is almost always, he tries to take his mind off things. He had discovered a way of just staring at a rock for a long time, and when he focussed on that rock incoming dreams couldn't touch him. It was a fluke, but Jake still couldn't control his power so he would be stuck inside dreams until the other person woke up. He sighed and mentally cursed his father. "So you are a new camper right?

Cas nodded as he spoke softly to her and didn't send her away. "Yeah, this is my first day. First my dad packs up my stuff and sends me here after talking to my aunt Hestia. She's not really my aunt but she's a family friends and she and my grandmother were the closest thing I had to a mother growing up." she explained.
But then the explanation hit her like a ton of bricks. She then reached into her pocket and got out the letter that Artemis had left for her when she had arrived here. "She didn't break her vows. She made me as a gift for my father. She said that...he saved a stag and did whatever he could to save it but it died. But as thanks she made me and gave me to him" she explained after she had handed the boy the letter of explanation. the weird thing is even though Cassandra hated school she was really good at it since she had an intellect of a college student
"Since you seem acquainted with Artemis ca you tell me exactly who and what she does?" she asked as she gave him a genuine smile

Jake cocked his head at her. "Acquainted? I have never met your mother but her stories are legend." Jake could keep the surprise from his voice as he played with a rock he picked up. He moved it in between his fingers as he tried to remember the stories. Or as we said himself the legends. He guess that would come after the explanation. It made sense that Cassandra came to be, but even so, not god or goddess gives gifts freely. Gods didn't have to have sex to have a child, but it is very rare that they would bless someone with a child instead of... well the other way of having a kid.
Jake cleared his throat. "For starters, she is goddess of the moon, and of the hunt." He said as he watched her ace and gaged her reaction. 'She is still a virgin Goddess, which is a vow very little gods tend to make. She does have children so to speak. She has her hunt, and they are women who vow to follow her and also make a virgin vow." Jake didn't know if he was making sense so he decided to break it down a little. "These children who are part of her hunt are immortal as long as they give their vow and keep it. They are children, young girls really, ranging from VERY LITTLE to about 16, maybe 17. " He paused as he yawned. He could feel his head taunting him to leave and go back to sleep, but he knew he couldn't just excuse himself for a nap.
"You are very special though, you are not part of her hunt, but are her child. Do you have any idea how rare gods bless mortals with these gifts without the sex?' He asked and leaned back a little but balanced so he wouldn't tip over.

Cas tilted her head at him in shock. Her mother was legendary? Now, Cas' head hurt from all of the new knowledge. Why had her mother not bothered to explain all of this to her when she had the chance or even when she had first arrived at this stupid place? Life was never easy for Cas so why should it be easy now?
When Jake spoke of Artemis being the Goddess of the Moon and of the Hunt she then brought her hand to her choker necklace as a reflex. In the middle of the necklace was a small and purple and covered with beads. But in the middle was this charm of the moon. That explained so much about her. Why she loved nothing more then to stare out at the moon and the stars at night. And also about how she could speak to animals
When Jake said she was special she blushed a bit and glanced away. She was not used to anyone calling her special besides her Dad. But when she looked at Jake again he was leaning closer to her and her breath caught in her throat. "No, I don't" she spoke simply as she placed some hair behind her ear. She then noted that he looked tired. She smiled and reached out her hand. "You look tired. Haven't you gotten any sleep. You're making me sleepy just looking at you" she teased a bit as she gently placed some hair out of his eyes. She then gently stroked his cheek.
She then drops her hand gently and blushes even more. She lays down on the ground and stares at the sky. Why am I so tired? she wonders as she just bats her eyelashes. "thank you Jake, for telling me all of this."she spoke sincerely. "You're a good friend and I like you" she spoke as her eyes bugged. She sat up quickly as she looked at him in shock. She hadn't meant to speak that last part. "Uhhh" she began but stopped. she didn't know what else to say

Jake smiled at her. Her touch was unexpected and he could feel her hand brush past his face. She sent chills down his back as he cleared his throat in response not really knowing what to say. She was truly special, and she didn't even know it. Jake smiled at her timidly and her next words startled him. He sighed and remembered he didn't tell her his Olympian parent. "Well, I am really tired because my father is god of sleep and dreams... and well, I ca see other peoples dreams, but I don't have a choice." He sighed. He usually didn't tell people about his power. "Well, I get pulled into dreams, and they are a real energy drain, and I don't sleep often, maybe four to five a day. I am too busy getting sucked into dreams to actually sleep myself." JAke said a little bitterly. He gave her a look as he tried not to get mad, it wasn't her fault that Jake didn't sleep. Jake laid down on the grass as she did, not feeling awkward at all when she was the one looking at the sky. He just followed her lead.
He watched the clouds slide from one form to the next. The wind was brutal up in the sky, the clouds were moving quickly, but the air near the gound was barely moving. Jake smiled as he heard Cassandras voice, he could defiantly feel the power in her body from where he laid. He could see cassandra sit up suddenly. Jake smiled and then his face quickly turned into a frown when he realized what she said. i like you... Jake stumbled in his mind for something to say. "Well, I feel close to you too, we are already friends and we just met." He gave her a small smile even though he didn't believe the words he had just spoken. He breathed out slowly and gazed back at the sky and watched a long cloud turn into something that resembled a ball. He desperatly wanted to go to sleep still, but he also wanted to question cassandra about what she just said... He knew he would do neither.

In response to Jake's words Cas smiled. She lied back down being reassured by his words. "That really must suck, I applaud you for your diligence Jake. But I know how you feel. I haven't gotten much sleep either, but for other reasons. I miss my...family...is...all. " she explained as she began to trail off. The sleepiness hadn't gone away as she tried to stay awake. But she seemed to be losing the battle as her eyes seemed to close. She then gave up and closed her eyes. She hadn't gotten much sleep lately because she had been missing her family.
So when she began to dream she dreamt of her now 32yr old Dad ad her 23 or 24 yr old older adopted brother Casey. How even though she looked something like her father who had the same smooth olive toned skin like she did with the same brownish green eyes that Casey looked nothing like the two of them. Casey had blonde hair and blue eyes. But Cas didn't care; Casey was her older brother and she loved him with all of her heart and she ignored these different traits..
She then thought back to her and Casey and about how close they were back home. Cas was thinking about when she and Casey were little and how she fought with other kids because they had a mom and she didn't. She was upset a lot and was crying. She was just a little kid who was really smart and angry all of the time because no one would accept her because she wasn't like them. Because she didn't have a mother. A few tears fell from her face even though she was asleep.
And then she seemed unconsciously to dream about Jake. It was just her and him standing at the edge of the water. She turned to him and he smiled. He pulled some hair out of her face and she blushed. I was strange that she was thinking bout a boy she had just met but this didn't stop her. She had almost instantly gained a crush on this boy and she wasn't going to give up on him. "I...like...you...Jake" she spoke in a trance

Jake watched the clouds pass by and felt a calm silence. He wanted to sleep but once the thought hit him he felt the painful pull of a dream. Jake could already see images from the dream, but not before he turned his head and saw Cassandra with her eyes closed. Jake swore under his breathe as he felt his body clench and then spasm a little as he fell unconscious. Jake could feel the blackness surround him as he felt the dream start to let him in. The best way to think of this blackness was like floating on water. You can feel both sides, he felt the real world where his body laid motionless looking at cassandra through closed eyes, and he could feel the dream, the images coming into focus slowly and then he watched Cassandra's unconscious mind take its turn of events. Jake's first instinct was to pull out from the dream, but he knew he couldn't, the dream was to intense and important to Cassandra.
Jake watched her family, first it was when they were in present day. Don't ask how Jake knew this, but he knew, stupid powers. Jake walked around the scene that played before him to where the dream Cassandra was. He stood next to her so Jake could see what she did. He knew she wouldn't remember him unless he spoke. Jake smiled at her family, they were all really close, and Jake was jealous but kept his mouth shut. The scene changed to when Cassandra was a child and her brother was standing up to her. Jake sighed as he put his hand on Casandra's shoulder. He instantly felt everything she was feeling and had to hold his mouth shut from not sighing. Jake looked at the little girl who was arguing with another child. He scene quickly changed to a Dream Jake and a Dream Cassandra with their feet in some water. Jake put a hand to his mouth so he wouldn't make a sound. How could she like him???
Jake tried to pull out of the dream and felt his energy start to slowly dissipate. He fell to his knees and continued to try and pull out of the dream. He kept his hand on his mouth and closed his eyes. He reached out with his mind to his real self at the lake. He forced himself to slowly move his hand to Cassandra's arm and pinched hard. Jake knew only three ways to break the link. ONE:To pull from the dream. TWO:A closed door, it somehow severs the connection, he still hasn't figured that one out. THREE:To wake the other person up. Jake [rayed silently that she wasn't a heavy sleeper.

Cas wasn't usually a heavy sleeper but from the many sleepless nights she had achieved earlier this week had finally taken its toll on her. Though she did feel the pinch she did not wake up. In the dream she rubbed her arm feeling the pain but didn't know what else to do.
Her dream sequence continued and it came to her and her father. When she was younger she was a good child but she had a bad habit of tantrums. She used to get in trouble just so that she could be the center of attention even though she was to her father Adam. She knew that she looked like her father's sister and had to make herself known as Cassandra, not Angela her aunt.
Cas truly loved her father with all of her heart. He was the first person she had known who loved her unconditionally. She was an angsty teenager and tried to rebel but Adam always let her have her way. She then felt bad because all he ever did was love her and she was hurting him by not doing good in school and by getting into fights with other people. She was also afraid that one day he would get tired of defending her and just get rid of her.
"I love you Dad" she whispered to her father who suddenly appeared in front of her. He smiled and hugged her. "I love you too my little goddess" he returned. Tears stung her eyes as she hugged him tightly. "I miss you Papa, and I'm sorry I was bad" she cried into his arms. Adam just smiled and looked at her with love in his eyes. "Don't you get it Hija? Nothing you do will ever make me stop loving you. I won't abandon you ever. You're my daughter and I love you. So I want you to train up, get stronger because Casey and I are waiting and cheering for you back home" he explained as he kissed her forehead.
A second later her necklace seemed to move and the moon charm in the middle started to glow slightly. It shined like the light from the moon. Cas then woke up from her dream. She sat up suddenly gasping for air as she clutched her throat and her necklace. Se was breathing heavily and her heart was beating like crazy. "Jake?" she asked as she saw him lying there not moving. "Jake, Jake please wake up?" she urged as she shook him gently. "Please, open your eyes?" she begged. "I'm sorry"

Jake witnessed what Cassandra did, but Jake stubbornly continued to try and pull free from he dream. He felt powerless and was mentally cursing his father all the while. He watched as Cassandra embraced her father. Jake shouldn't be seeing any of this, it was personal to her, and she wasn't exactly thinking straight while she slept. Jake sat next to Cassandra in the dream but kept quiet, he didn't look up, but he knew what was happening. He could feel her dream slowly start to break, it was like him waking up through someone else's eyes. He was kinda waking up himself, the dream him was slowly going away and he was partly seeing through Cassandra's eyes. It was all really complicated to explain but the gist of it was... Jake had a horrible headache. He could feel Cassandra poking him, but he was pretending to sleep, so it didn't seem like he was watching her dreams, it wasn't like he had a choice. He could still feel Cassandra's subconscious mind, it was more like colors swirling and meshing together than actual images now that she was awake but Jake still found it soothing.
Jake woke up when she shook him. He blinked twice seeing the moon high above their heads, he didn't know how much time had passed, but he knew it was more than he expected. He grabbed his head groggily and smirked, he ran his hands through his hair and gave it a shake, feeling his fake pointed hairstyle still in shape. He didn't really try and get it how it was, but it naturally stood up and he just pulled it together to a relaxed mohawk. He was once told by Chiron that he didn't believe it was natural, but mind you he bet the Centaur used hairspray for that head of hair. "Sorry?" HE questioned, he didn't know why she would be sorry, as far as he knew, she didn't know he was in her dream, he had kept his mouth shut through the whole thing. He hoped she believed his stupid act he was currently performing. "I should be the one saying sorry, I was explaining your mother and slowly dozed off, you know how it is to influence people to be sleepy." HE said nonchalantly. He sighed as he looked at her and sat up. He could feel a bump on his back from where a stone had dug into his back. Just what he needed, more bruises to mach the cut on his arm he had from the adventure with Wynter.

"Ok. But that's alright, that was the most sleep I've gotten for a while" she joked with a smile as she rubbed behind her head like an idiot. She then noticed him rub the back of his head. "Allow me" she spoke softy as she moved closer to him. She gently placed her hand on the back of his head where the bump was. She then sighed lightly as the wound slowly began to heal. After a few minutes the bump completely went away. "There ya go; all patched up" she explained to him.
It was then that Cassandra noticed exactly how close the two of them really were. Her face was mere inches away from his. She looked down and saw his lips. They looked soft and were a light pink. Her hand then gently stroked his cheek as her eyes met his. She felt her cheeks burn slightly as she considered what to do. She wouldn't mind kissing him but she didn't want to freak him out. So she just stared at him; daring him to make the first move even though she was slowly inching her face closer. She would stop if he either moved away or stopped her. "Jake," she spoke softly as she closed her eyes

Jake gasped in shock as the bump on his head slowly dissipated over the span of several seconds by Cassandra`s touch. He didn`t know she had the power to do that, but he guessed as a demigod it shouldn`t surprise him, but she seemed so diffrent, even for a demigod. Jake rubbed where the bump once was and found nothing but his hair. He turned to face her quickly and saw that she was slowly inching closer to him, at first it seemed like she didn`t realize what she was doing so Jake stood his ground and just smiled timidly at her feeling uncomfortable with their closeness. All he wanted to say was thank you but it didn`t really seem like the right time to thank her. Her rubbed the top of his head in confusion as she closed her eyes and kept advancing on him. The hair on Jake`s arms stood on end as her head kept getting closer. To Jake it seemed like hours but he presumed it was a matter of seventy seconds of her leaning in. Jake might not have even kissed a girl, but he knew what she was trying to do. His palms got sweaty as he stood up quickly and cleared his throat, looking down at Cassandra.
"Ummm, yah, thanks for vclearing up my head bump.... thing. " He stated unsure if he should run or stay. He kind of wanted to run but he knew that would make him a jerk, so he stayed very awkwardly and put his hands in his pockets. His body hunched forward as he turned awqay from Cassandra and looked at the slowly rising moon. He knew it was probably past curfew, but Jake never really slept when other people did, it usually ended with many dreams and Jake being drained of most of his energy. He nuzzled a small stone with his chucks and shifted his weight from one foot to the next. He didn`t know what to say, but he knew that he should say something. Jake opened his mouth to say that he had to go, but nothing came out of it, he could feel his vocal cords trying to create a sound, but like everything else he trustes, they failed on him. He cursed mentally as he stared down into the water a ways off. He wished that he could be in New York, and not camp half blood, it wasn`t that he didn`t like it, but he just didn`t want to be caged up in the camp... with little sleep.

Cs just looked at him in surprise as her eyes shook. She looked away from him and then stood up. "No problem" she spoke with a fake smile. "I'll see you later" she more shouted then spoke as she took off running into the forest. As she ran she pushed past the thoughts in her head as her vision became blurry. Tears stung her eyes and gently fell to the earth as she ran faster.
"I hate my life; why can't I just be normal" she questioned as she ran back to her cabin. She crashed onto her bed and clutched the pillow. She cried into it until an hour later she fell asleep
